VW 4MOTION® AWD is a better version of the conventional AWD system. It automatically discerns which tires need more torque and adjusts engine output based on those needs and driving conditions. While all tires are engaged simultaneously, 4MOTION® distributes about 90% of power to the front axle and 10% to the rear. This provides the control you’d expect from an FWD vehicle, while also offering traction similar to a 4WD.
If the 4MOTION® senses that one of your tires is starting to lose traction, weight is redistributed immediately as needed. If the road conditions are clear and smooth, 4MOTION® can automatically switch to RWD or FWD to help conserve fuel.
