2024 Volkswagen Taos vs 2024 Volkswagen Atlas

Serving Mentor, OH

At the front of Volkswagen crossover SUV lineup for 2024, the Taos is a practical, well-appointed model with a two-row cabin. It is often compared to the Volkswagen Atlas, a midsize model with three rows in its spacious interior. The size and layout of these models are only some of their differences. What else should you know before buying your next Volkswagen SUV?

Performance

You will find one well-engineered powertrain system across the three trim levels for the 2024 Taos. This is a 158-horsepower, turbo 1.5-liter, four-cylinder unit. The powertrain is available with an eight-speed auto transmission with front-wheel drive, or you can choose a seven-speed, dual-clutch auto transmission with all-wheel drive and an upgraded rear suspension. The 2024 Atlas, on the other hand, has one powertrain for its four trim levels. This is a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo unit that generates 269 horsepower. All trims have an eight-speed auto transmission. You can choose between front-wheel or all-wheel drive for the SE and SE with Technology trims. The other trims have standard all-wheel drive.

Appearance

The 2024 Taos and the 2024 Atlas share the Volkswagen brand’s modern design language, but they are easy to tell apart on the road. The compact Taos shows off thick-spoke wheels, a pair of pinstripe accents, and bold body molding on the sides. The roof and hood are subtly tapered. On the front end, the short grille is lined on the top and bottom by chrome accents, and it expands to the sides to integrate flawlessly with the LED headlights. The bumper rises up in a modified A-frame style, and the prominent air vents add a sporty look. Comparatively, the larger Atlas has a flatter roof and a taller nose. The pinstripe accents on the sides round above the slightly flared and squared-off fenders. The Atlas has the same grille shape with three chrome crossbars. The headlights are larger and are enveloped on three sides by an LED bar. In addition, the smaller air inlets are outlined with metallic trim.

Features

You can enjoy many of the same features in the Taos and the Atlas, including a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, a navigation system, a digital instrument panel, leather upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, remote engine start, a push-button ignition, a wireless internet hotspot, numerous driver’s assistance technologies and more. The Atlas also has a 360-degree camera, automated parking, a Harman Kardon sound system, second-row captain’s chairs, adjustable ambient cabin lights, a head-up display, and more.
